Safety briefings for workers who speak another language
A safety briefing only works if people understand it. When part of the team speaks Polish, Romanian, Turkish or Ukrainian and the trainer speaks English or German, the usual fix is a colleague translating on the spot, which is slow and hard to check. Konvo translates the briefing live as the trainer speaks.
How it works in a briefing
Open Konvo on the trainer’s laptop, set the language the trainer speaks and the language the workers read, and press Start. Turn on Caption mode to show the translation in large text, then move that window to a projector or a big screen. People read along in their language while the trainer talks.
If a worker has a question, they say it in their own language using the Speak tab on the trainer’s laptop. Konvo translates it and reads it aloud in the trainer’s language, so no question gets lost.
What it does, and what it does not replace
Konvo makes the spoken part of a briefing understandable. It does not replace your written safety instructions, translated warning signs, or the record that each person attended and understood. For serious hazards, use professionally translated material and check understanding, for example by asking people to explain the rule back in their own words.
After the session, the transcript stays on the trainer’s computer. It can help you see what was actually covered, but it is not a signed attendance record.
One reading language per session
Each session translates into one reading language. With a mixed group, for example Polish and Romanian speakers together, run the briefing once per language group, or run Konvo on a second laptop with the other language.
What it does not do
- Not a substitute for written, professionally translated safety instructions or for documented proof of attendance.
- One reading language per session.
- Noisy shop floors reduce accuracy. Use a microphone close to the trainer.
- Desktop app only (macOS, Windows, Linux).
