Translate a Google Meet call in real time

Google shipped Live Translate into Meet in 2026. At general availability it pairs English with Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian, and it depends on your Workspace tier. If your language pair is not on that list, Konvo fills the gap.

What you do

Start Konvo before you join, choose your two languages, and open Meet as normal. Translation streams into a floating window while people speak.

There is no extension to install into Chrome and no bot to admit. Since March 2026 Meet has been flagging third-party notetaker bots as a risk, and Konvo is unaffected because it never joins.

Where Google is still the better option

If your organisation runs on Workspace and your language pair is one of the supported five, Meet Live Translate is included with what you already pay for. Use it. Konvo is for the calls it does not cover.

Questions we get

How many languages does Google Meet translate?
At general availability, bidirectional translation covers English with Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian. Google has demonstrated a much wider model in preview. Konvo currently covers 40+ languages including Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Indonesian.
Does Konvo work if my company blocks third-party meeting bots?
Yes, because there is nothing to block. The restriction applies to bots requesting entry to the call. Konvo is a desktop app reading your own audio.
Do I need a Google Workspace plan?
No. Konvo is tied to your Konvo account, not your employer’s Google plan.
