Konvo vs Otter.ai
Otter is the best-known name in meeting transcription. It also runs on a recording bot and charges per seat. Here’s how the two line up, including the places Otter wins.
Similar hours for about half the monthly price, plus live translation Otter doesn’t do. Otter is still the better buy if you need teams, search or a phone app.

When to pick Otter.ai instead
- Your team needs one shared archive that everyone can search.
- You want it on your phone. Konvo is desktop only: macOS, Windows, Linux.
- You pay annually. Otter Pro works out to $8.33 a month, which undercuts us.
- Everyone in your meetings already speaks the same language, so translation buys you nothing.
Questions we get
Is Konvo cheaper than Otter.ai?
On monthly billing, yes: $9 against $16.99 for a similar number of hours. On annual billing Otter Pro drops to $8.33 a month and comes out slightly ahead. The bigger difference is what you get for it. Konvo adds live translation in 40+ languages and skips the meeting bot.
Does Otter.ai translate meetings in real time?
Otter is built for transcription, live captions and search, not live translation. Konvo streams the translation word by word while someone is still talking, and can speak your reply back in their language.
Why does the recording bot matter?
Bot-based notetakers join your call as a participant. Since March 2026 Google Meet flags third-party notetaker bots as a potential risk and defaults to keeping them out, and Microsoft Teams marks external bots unverified and makes the organizer approve them. Konvo reads your system audio locally, so there’s no bot to admit or block.
